Crisp PDF: Scan, Read & Tools ("Crisp PDF," "we," "us," or "our") is an Android application for scanning, reading, converting, organizing, and editing PDF documents. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use it.

1. Information the App Handles

Crisp PDF may access the following information only when you choose a related feature:

Documents, images, and PDF content. The app reads the files you select or the files you allow it to access so that it can display, scan, convert, merge, split, recognize text from, rename, share, or delete them.

Camera input. The app uses the camera only when you choose to scan a document or take a photo for OCR.

Recognized text. OCR text is created from the document, image, or PDF you choose and can be edited, copied, shared, or saved by you.

Local preferences and recent-file records. Settings such as scan quality and language, plus records needed to show your recent files, are stored locally on your device.

2. How We Use This Information

The app uses the information above to provide the feature you request. For example, a selected image can be converted into a PDF, and a selected PDF can be displayed, split, renamed, or shared at your direction.

3. Storage and Sharing

The documents, images, and OCR text you select are processed on your device for the requested document feature. Files you create are saved on your device, by default in Download/Crisp PDF/, unless you choose another supported location. Crisp PDF does not keep a remote copy of those files in this version.

Sharing is initiated only when you select Share. The Android share sheet then sends the chosen file or text to the app or service you select. That recipient's privacy policy applies to its handling of the shared content.

4. Permissions and Your Choices

File access is used only to let the app work with PDFs and images on your device. You can change file-access permissions in your Android system settings.

Camera access is requested only after you choose a camera-based scan or OCR action. You can deny or revoke this permission in Android system settings; camera features will then be unavailable.

5. Retention and Deletion

You can delete created files through Crisp PDF or your device's file manager. You can clear app data or uninstall the app to remove app-local settings and recent-file records. Files saved outside app storage remain under your control and must be deleted separately if you no longer want them.

6. Firebase Services

Crisp PDF uses Google Firebase services to understand app performance and usage, diagnose crashes, and deliver notifications. Firebase may process app-interaction events, app version and configuration information, device and installation identifiers, crash reports, stack traces, relevant app state, and device metadata. Firebase Cloud Messaging also uses a Firebase Installation ID or registration token and configuration data to deliver notifications to the app instance.

We do not send the documents, images, PDF content, or OCR text that you select in Crisp PDF to Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, or notifications. Firebase processes its service data under the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Data Security

The security of your files depends on your device, its lock-screen settings, operating-system protections, and the apps or people with whom you choose to share content. No method of storage is completely secure.

8. Children's Privacy

Crisp PDF is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or its data practices change. The updated version will be made available through the app or the location where this policy is published.
